The Garden Museum exists because
people have been willing to offer help on a voluntary
basis since its earliest days. The Museum still
relies on volunteers who work in many areas, principally
the front desk, shop and garden.
Our
team are friendly and welcoming to all the Museum’s
visitors, give information about the collection
and exhibitions and make our garden look beautiful
for the public to visit.
As
a volunteer, you will need to have some interest
in and knowledge on gardening.
In
exchange you will be given relevant training,
be able to attend lectures, special events, private
viewings of exhibitions and social and cultural
events organised by the Volunteers Manager.
Volunteers
also get discounts in the shop and a free light
lunch from our delicious vegetarian café.
We
are currently looking for volunteers to work on
the front desk and in the gift shop. Other opportunities
such as working for the Education department,
helping in the garden and providing support in
the office may also beavailable.
No
experience is necessary but we are looking for
people who are flexible and reliable, and who
can flourish as members of a close team. It is
also important that our volunteers have an interest
in Gardens & Gardening and/or Museums.
Volunteer
benefits include invitations to talks, debates,
parties, exhibition openings and other special
Museum events. There are also exclusive volunteer
outings, a 20% discount in the shop, and complimentary
lunch in the Garden Café.
