Rachel Warne - Faded Glory
Rachel Warne - Faded Glory 27/01/15 - 27/02/15
In this photographic exhibition Rachel Warne studies gardens which have had a magnificent past but have been left to mother nature through a variety of circumstances. We can still celebrate a garden even though it has been left to the wild – indeed there is an extra magic to a garden which is being swallowed up by the forces of nature. It is this magic that Rachel aims to capture with these photographs, shot in black and white, taking advantage of mist or frost, enigmatic, mystical, with a hint of the gothic. Above all, the celebration of 'faded glory'.
Her intention is to raise awareness of these gardens, reminding us of forgotten gems of our garden heritage. To see the wildness of these gardens in a positive way to get the viewer to feel that they had just discovered a lost city, and to ask them to imagine just how grand it must once have looked.
Accompanying the exhibition will be a small collection of images of the gardens in their heyday.
