'Collecting Cultures - From Cabbages to Kings'

Since July 2008; when we acquired Francis Dodd 'Gardens at Hammersmith Allotments', the Garden Museum has been growing its fascinating collection of paintings, prints and drawings.

Generously supported by a Heritage Lottery Fund Collecting Cultures Grant, we have collected 40 works of art illustrating all aspects of UK gardens and gardening. This intriguing collection of pictures has never been seen in public before and offers an exciting insight to our museum's future.

The exhibition will be a chance to see what we have bought, how we have used some of our new acquisitions to stimulate children taking part in our successful outreach programmes, or to help tell new and exciting stories in our exhibitions.

Many of the works on show will form part of the new permanent exhibition gallery in 2016 but over the next few weeks we are offering our visitors a chance of a sneak preview!
