"Gardens are to be celebrated as one of the most complex forms of culture," says Nordfjell, "as they unify architecture, nature and art." Stolkholm-based landscape architect and garden designer Ulf Nordfjell will talk about his remarkable work which blends swedish modernism with English Romantisism.

For Nordfjell, Swedish nature is always present in his designs and he has a strong preference for natural materials. Modern, strong design elements are the underlying theme always apparent in his parks and gardens. Products are made of Swedish materials such as granite, steel and timber.

"My wish is that all who see the garden will become aware of its ecological subtext of using the right plant in the right place," Ulf Nordfjell.

Ulf Nordfjell, is a botanist, ceramicist and landscape designer. His work is characterised by two things: an ability to set contemporary buildings in a garden setting and a desire to choose plants that have their genetic origins in the landscape beyond "I think Swedish nature is always present in my design and I like to use natural materials, but the structure of my parks and gardens is always modern, with very strong design elements".
