Complete with a fully equipped kitchen, our Learning Studio is the perfect space for families, community groups and adult learners to roll up their sleeves for food learning classes.

Culinary inspiration is close by as the Learning Studio is situated next to our award-winning cafe and overlooks our plant-filled Courtyard Garden.

This bright, welcoming space is home to school visits for primary, secondary, and sixth-form students. The Clore Learning Space is fully equipped with state-of-the-art microscopes which bring plant science to life.

During school holidays and on Sunday mornings in term time, families can enjoy creative art and craft sessions together.

We also open the Clore Learning Space to community groups for one-off or regular gatherings — from lively workshops to our much-loved Clay for Dementia programme — making it a place where learning, creativity, and connection grow side by side.

Samia Qureshi, Plant Science Educator

Samia has developed the museum’s school sessions for pupils of all ages. Aligned with the National Curriculum her plant science lessons are one-of-a-kind. Samia also hosts the UK’s only free GCSE Biology revision sessions offered by a museum during the Easter holidays. Samia has also significantly expanded the Primary School plant science programme which comprises of practical investigations.

With nearly 25 years of international experience as a Post Harvest Technologist, Samia has worked alongside growers in the UK and around the world. In addition to industry experience, she is a qualified Biology teacher and has taught in Secondary schools.

Gemma Clark, Family Learning Officer

Gemma has created a family learning offer for Tots and families of school age children at weekends and during school holidays.  She is passionate about building a family community at the museum through art and nature, with a diverse range of activities from clay to collage to gelli printing and cyanotype.  She is always looking to try a new technique and introduce it to our families.

Ceri Jones, Food Educator

Ceri has been the Food Educator at the Museum at the Garden Museum for 7 years, facilitating cooking workshops in the Learning Studio. Ceri has a passion for filling her plates with colourful vegetables and celebrates seasonal food though her sessions. She believes that anyone can cook a decent meal, given the right encouragement and practice. She is particularly keen on teaching knife skills and incorporates practice into all her classes whether you are 5 or 85!

As well as working here Ceri works as a food and recipe writer and is a freelance chef for wellbeing retreats. Her first cookery book ‘It Starts with Veg’ was published by Pavilion books in 2024.
