The Museum has good transport links. Buses number 3, 77 and 344 stop outside the museum. Vauxhall, Westminster and Lambeth North tube stations are within walking distance of the Museum.
We don’t have any dedicated parking. Parking is available for minibuses nearby at the Novotel London Waterloo and drop off points for coaches in Lambeth Road.
Pupils can eat their packed lunch in the Clore Learning Space where the session takes place. We allocate a maximum of 30 minutes for lunch as this enables us to clean and turn the room around for other museum activities.
We encourage schools to take back packaging and food debris to recycle either at school or home as we cannot dispose of these items at the Garden Museum.
We can take apple cores, banana skins and other selected fruit and vegetable matter for composting in our wormery. This is at the discretion of the educator.
The Garden Museum has a restaurant called the Garden Café from where teachers or accompanying parents can buy hot drinks and/or cakes and biscuits up to midday. All food is freshly prepared on site, but they do not sell crisps, chocolate, sandwiches/rolls or fizzy drinks.
It is a bookable award-winning sit-down restaurant.
The plant science schools programme runs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during term time.
Please see the school section of the website for details of the sessions. Bespoke sessions can also be created to focus on a particular topic studied at school.
Contact the plant science educator samia@gardenmuseum.org.uk for additional information.
If schools cancel less than two weeks before their scheduled session, then they will be eligible to pay a cancellation fee of 50% of their booking charge.
This applies even though our sessions are free of charge at present.
No, the capacity of the Clore Learning Space is 30 pupils.
It might be possible to have an additional afternoon session for secondary school groups so it’s best to contact samia@gardenmuseum.org.uk.
