Dig for Victory Poster
This is one of the best-known propaganda images of the Second World War. It was first issued by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1941 and various formats were printed. This particular example has had a tough life. Based on its general condition and the holes along the top, it could well have been tied to a post with string. Purchased in 2009 under the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Collecting Cultures scheme.
