Lithographic print for Carter's Seeds
This 1892 lithograph print for Carter’s Seeds catalogue features unusually shaped calceolarias flowers in the border – also known as lady’s purse, slipper flower, pocketbook flower or slipperwort. The calceolarias genus originates from across Central and South America, but many seeds available in shops today are cultivated hybrids with names like ‘Gold Fever’ and ‘Jewel Cluster’ and ‘Sunset mixed’.
