Curtis's Botanical Magazine
In 1787 William Curtis of Lambeth founded a magazine of botanical illustration which remains in publication today. Between 1878 – 1923 Matilda Smith, the botanical artist in residence at Kew, was the lead illustrator. This plate shows a rhododendron collected by George Forrest in Yunnan, a province in China.
