For the first time in our history, the Garden Museum is creating an Endowment Fund, Ever Green.
This important next chapter will help us keep innovating and growing. It will help us bring the power of gardens to even more people – across London, the UK and the world.
Why an Endowment Fund?
Today our programme, archive and collection, our stewardship of our 900-year-old site and our national and local impact are funded by visitors and supporters like you. This is unusual in our sector.
Most museums benefit from funding from central or local government, universities or institutions, property assets or wealthy founders. The majority of independent museums of our size and reach have an Endowment Fund to support their work.
The Garden Museum has none of these. In 2023 we became a National Portfolio Organisation of the Arts Council England, with an annual grant of 5% of our income. This funds free events for our community, and has had a profound effect. But as the only museum dedicated to gardens, we know there is so much more we could and should be doing.
Ever Green will help us get there. It will help build our collection and archive, and their local, national and global impact, help grow our learning and training programmes, and help us become a much-needed national voice for all that gardens can bring.
Ever Green will give this special place stronger roots, and more fertile ground to keep growing, keep innovating, keep protecting and promoting the power of gardens, and keep making a difference, now and forever.
The Garden Museum is like coming home, it’s so friendly and welcoming to all. I’m so glad to be able to help ensure it’s here for generations to enjoy, as I have.

A gift to Ever Green will be invested in our Endowment Fund, the income from which will be ring-fenced for five purposes: our collection, our archive, our advocacy, our learning programmes, and our work to inspire and train the next generation of gardeners.
Whether you can give £50 or £50,000, whether you can donate a one-off gift or commit to an annual donation, every gift to Ever Green helps make the new chapter for the Garden Museum a reality.
This is only the beginning. We hope to continue to tend and grow Ever Green, to strengthen more aspects of our work, and to increase our impact in both breadth and depth.
