Kids class: Age guide 9-13+ years

For these sessions children aged 9+ may attend the session without parental supervision, but we do ask parents to stay on-site at the Museum (gallery/café) for the duration of the class.

We keep a small number of free spaces available for each class to ensure that families for whom the ticket price would be a barrier can still attend. To apply for a free spot, please email us at ceri@gardenmuseum.org.uk

Join us to explore the spices chilli, ginger and turmeric through these hands-on cookery workshops designed for young cooks.  We will learn about how and where the spices grow, how to prepare them for cooking, and how to use them in a recipe without adding too much heat! In this session you will also have the opportunity to sow a chilli seed to take home and nurture.

In all of our family and kids food learning classes we learn age-appropriate knife skills, explore seasonal vegetables, and are inspired by recipes and ingredients from different cultures. After cooking our meal together, we end the class with a communal meal at the table overlooking the Museum’s courtyard garden.

These workshops are inspired by our exhibition, Seasons of Change: Canton and London in the 1700s, as paintings of these ingredients feature in the exhibition.

Sample Menu (kids)
