Slow down, sketch and appreciate the springtime season with Wild Life Drawing.

To celebrate the latest exhibition at the Garden Museum, Seeds of Exchangewe will be creating artworks inspired by fruits, flowers and foliage. Sumptuous citrus fruits, exotic spices and flowers feature in these meticulous paintings by Mak Sau, commissioned by English botanist John Bradby-Blake. In true botanical illustration style, the paintings depict these plants at various stages of their lifecycle; including cross sections, notes and pencil sketches. At this welcoming workshop, we will draw from still-life to create artworks that celebrate the whole plant, from branch to blossom. Nature illustrator Jennie Webber will be guiding you through the process of observational drawing, with plenty of encouragement and creative support. All materials are provided and there will be plenty of colours to experiment with, including watercolour paints and pastels.

Jennie will also be sharing some of the behind-the-scenes processes that went into her award winning children’s book It Starts with a Bee. We can assure you that you’ll never look at fruit in the same way again!

This class is open to all abilities, especially beginners. The class includes entry to the exhibition.
