Garden Dug-Out Air Raid Shelter, World War II
A cigarette card published by Wills’s from their ‘Air Raid Precautions’ series issued during World War II and showing ‘A Garden Dug-Out’ bomb shelter with a woman shining a torch and man wearing a gas mask. Dug into your lawn and covered with earth, the claims for this design include it being ‘gas-proof and will give protection from blast and splinters from high explosive bombs.’
