Urban Contemporary Tapestry Workshop – Stitching Our Stories

Inspired by the Garden Museum’s exhibition Benton End: A Paradise of Pollen and Paint and the work of artist and horticulturalist Cedric Morris, this project brings together painting, textiles, recycled materials, embroidery, and the visual language of Mas and carnival traditions. Together, we will explore the connections between people, migration, plants, biodiversity, and urban life.

The final design has evolved through conversations and creative contributions gathered during Neighbours Day, reflecting the voices and experiences of the local community.

Over three making sessions, participants will contribute to different stages of the artwork’s creation.

Join the final stage of production as we complete the tapestry through embroidery, embellishment, and detailed finishing. Every stitch and addition becomes part of a shared visual language, reflecting memory, identity, creativity, and our collective relationship with the natural world.
