Urban Contemporary Tapestry Workshop – Paint and Pollinate

Inspired by the Garden Museum’s exhibition Benton End: A Paradise of Pollen and Paint and the work of artist and horticulturalist Cedric Morris, this project brings together painting, textiles, recycled materials, embroidery, and the visual language of Mas and carnival traditions. Together, we will explore the connections between people, migration, plants, biodiversity, and urban life.

The final design has evolved through conversations and creative contributions gathered during Neighbours Day, reflecting the voices and experiences of the local community.

Over three making sessions, participants will contribute to different stages of the artwork’s creation.

Wednesday 12 August | 11 am–3 pm

Design Preparation – Paint & Pollinate

Help create the visual foundation of the tapestry by painting, collaging, and designing floral forms inspired by Cedric Morris’s gardens and the plants that shape our urban environment. Fabric elements will be selected, cut, and prepared, ready for assembly into the final composition.
