£100 Cookery Masterclass | Eastern European Comfort with Alissa Timoshkina

Book Tickets
Join Alissa Timoshkina - food writer, cookbook author and historian specialising in the culinary cultures of Eastern Europe - for a three-hour, hands-on cookery masterclass in our Learning Studio. A wonderful way to welcome the winter season, this hands on class celebrates the comforting, generous flavours of Eastern European home cooking.

Together with Alissa, you’ll explore classics from across the Eastern European repertoire and discover how a handful of simple, nourishing ingredients can be transformed into deeply flavourful and satisfying dishes.

During the masterclass, you’ll learn to prepare two hearty vegetarian stews, make traditional knedliky bread dumplings, and create a warming spiced winter fruit punch – a festive favourite across Central and Eastern Europe.

The experience concludes with a relaxed lunch overlooking the museum’s courtyard garden, where you’ll sit down together to enjoy the dishes you’ve prepared.

Sample Menu
Hungarian Sauerkraut Stew –
A tangy, comforting classic with fermented cabbage, caraway seeds, paprika and sour cream
Czech Mushroom Goulash – A staple of Bohemian pubs, reimagined for a vegetarian table with rich, earthy mushrooms and warming spices.
Knedliky Bread Dumplings – Traditional Czech bread dumplings, the perfect accompaniment to both stews.
Spiced Winter Fruit Punch with Brandy Cream – A warming Central and Eastern European classic, given a festive twist with fragrant spices and a generous splash of brandy, finished with silky brandy cream.

Open to all levels of skills and interests.  This class is suitable for Adults 18 and over.

*This class is part of our hands-on monthly masterclass cooking sessions, which focus on specialist topics or advanced cooking techniques.  Sessions are usually on Sunday and held in the Garden Museum’s  food learning studio.
