Plants & Portraits: An evening of artists’ films celebrating plants and the people who care for them

Spanning seven decades and moving between Europe and Asia, this programme of short films explores connections between human life, plants and memory. It is presented by Dr Becca Voelcker — lecturer at Goldsmiths, BBC New Generation Thinker, and author of Land Cinema in an Age of Extraction, a cross-cultural history of eco-political cinema, published by the University of California Press in 2026 — in conversation with series chair Tim Richardson.

This series, chaired and curated by landscape historian and critic Tim Richardson, aims to broaden our ideas of what gardens, landscape and place can mean in the context of artistic practice in an era of climate change. Across five evenings, Tim has invited a range of practitioners, curators and academics to discuss their own work and to reflect on the broader scene. A drink is included in the price of the ticket so stick around to continue the discussion. Book for all five evenings at a reduced price here.
